Crazy..I am going to ask my students. Weird idea I know but if there is to be a move for positive change and a shift to a culture of learning at all levels. I should go to the source. Sometimes it hurts to find out the lesson was boring, or dumb however if the students can reflect the " why " and discuss the issue with me it may open the door to a non-traditional way to improve my delivery.
Problem-solve w/fellow teachers to diagnose the "why & how" (data shows the "what")...Then strategize to find a solution using each other as experts.

Liz, I would like to see more QEIA issues, updates, concerns, & brainstorming shared here on the forum.
I am making a list of all the CCSS and the 1997 standards to demonstrate to my gradelevel how they are related.

I guess it would depend on what I wanted the students to learn.  I would analyze what was missed on the assessment and how it was missed?  Did the question(s) contain terms that my students might not know- despite exposure to the terms.  Could I have included a sample question and answer to help.  Was there anything that I could have front loaded at the start of the assessment?

I always hope that I can do better the next time just as I hope my students can do better.

I am not a special educator- I am a general educator and don't have the insights into disabilities that the special educators do but I have found that what works in special ed really works in general ed. so ...
